Things Are Looking Up... and Baby Has A Name!

Thanks to all my dear and wonderful friends who posted such encouraging thoughts in the last few days. I must have posted that blog entry at my lowest point, because I've been doing so much better since then. We went to see the OB today, and that made a world of difference in how I'm feeling. (Kathryn was born 5 weeks early, so they begin monitoring me early). So I'm 30 weeks along, and thankfully, baby is 2 weeks bigger than that. Also, although there is some change (or 'ripening' as they call it) occurring, it's not as drastic as it was with Kathryn. Hopefully, that means he'll stay put a little longer than she did. And he now has a name- Alex Kenton Brown (And if for some odd reason, "he" is actually a "she," then Natalie Faith). Nathan and I struggle with the naming process. He's so very traditional, and I believe variety is the spice of life. So I'm proud to announce we have arrived at this decision- and no marital counseling was necessary ;o)

I'm glad things are looking up! You really don't have much longer now till the little guy arrives: and what a great name he'll be stepping into! I'm impressed! Where does "Kenton" come from? Is it a family name? Anyway, sounds great together.

I'll talk to you soon...

Ok, Tara... prepare to be 'unimpressed.' I gave Nathan a list of the top 200 names over the last few years, and he marked out everything he didn't like (we had 10 left). Then I deleted 5 of those, etc. until we had 'Alex.' Life with the logical engineer, you know ;o) I like European-ish names, and while looking through a list came upon Kenton. I thought Kathryn and Kenton sounded nice together. So we compromised. No family connections or anything, but we liked it... Glad you do, too.

Kathryn and Kenton DO sound great together. Does this mean the baby will go by his middle name?

I'm not 'unimpressed'; bottom-line is you actually made a good decision, doesn't matter how it was achieved!!

Nope, I'm afraid Nathan wasn't too wild about Kenton as a first name. He thought it sounded too much like 'kitten.' Oh, well. I told him maybe Alex's will marry a brilliant woman who thinks the name is so cool that I'll get a grandson with that name...
